The Downers Grove Public Library is a cornerstone of the community, supporting the information, education, inspiration, and entertainment needs of more than 48,000 residents.
With a collection of over 300,000 items, the library provides free and equitable access to resources that help residents learn, grow, and succeed. Beyond books, movies, and music, the library offers extensive digital and streaming content, computer and digital literacy training, and state‑of‑the‑art media equipment for recording and editing audio and video—meeting the evolving needs of today’s learners, creators, and professionals.
The library is deeply woven into daily life in Downers Grove. Nearly 30,000 residents are library cardholders, and community engagement is among the strongest in the region. At one point, residents checked out an average of 20 items per person annually, underscoring the library’s role as an essential, high‑impact community asset.
